Off to Korea we go, to test out a new bodycare product from one of my favourite Korean beauty sites, Wishtrend. Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub is, as the name suggests, a scrub made with finely ground walnut shell granules and various natural oils from the jungle.
For me, the big plus point of this scrub is the fact that there are no plastic microbeads. Instead, the scrubbing action comes from tiny bits of nutshell. Microbeads are really bad news for the environment and I much prefer a more natural, ecofriendly alternative.
As you can see from the photo below, the nutshell pieces really are extremely small, like grains of sand. And yet these little specks which look like they wouldn’t be particularly scrubby, pack more of a punch than you might expect. It gives a good thorough but not harsh scrub without irritating the skin. The sweet and nutty fragrance is just lovely.
The added moisturising ingredients, including Brazil nut oil and cacao seed butter, mean that your skin is left glowing and smooth rather than dry. A little goes a long way, so I would expect this 250ml tube to last at least a couple of months.
If you are thinking of buying this as a gift, the outer packaging is very pretty, with embossed jungle leaves wrapped around white card. The tube of scrub itself is packaged in shades of metallic bronze – very classy. Jungle Botanics is an exclusive brand recently launched by Wishtrend. The name reflects the origins of the ingredients, so thankfully no jungle had to suffer for your exfoliating needs.
If you’re into fake tanning, then an exfoliating body scrub is a must beforehand. You stand a much better chance of a non-streaky tan if you’re applying it to a smooth surface. Also, if your fake tan is starting to wear off, this scrub is a great way to remove it evenly before your next application.
Jungle Botanics Natural Body Glow Nutshell Scrub is available exclusively from Wishtrend, RRP $23.90, or around £18
How Wishtrend works
What makes Wishtrend unique is that they don’t carry the most obvious or cutesy Korean brands, such as TonyMoly or Etude House. It’s more of a store for the serious skincare hunter who wants to check out the less obvious brands.
Probably the most well-known brand on there right now is COSRX, with their highly-regarded range for acne-prone skin.
I would also recommend checking out Tosowoong. They’re not so well known, but they have some terrific skincare and make-up products. Plus right now they have a Hello Kitty Vibratory Pore Brush, which sounds like seven shades of awesome.
International shipping is free for orders over $69, or if you buy something from Wishtrend’s Free Shipping page then your whole order will ship for free, regardless of value.
I have a special invitation code for new customers via this link – https://secure.wishtrend.com/?s=103081909 CODE: 103081909
If you use that, then both you and I will get $5 off our orders.
