This is the time of year when fitness can really go off the boil for many people, so I just wanted to pop in and say DON’T GIVE UP. There is plenty more fun with movement to be had before the year is out.
In my wellbeing podcast I’ve started to talk about movement rather than exercise, because I think the word ‘exercise’ can be offputting to a lot of people. That’s expecially true if you don’t feel at home in the gym or if you don’t feel as happy as you could in your own skin.
Find a way to move that is fun for you and that you can keep doing during the dark winter months
- Dance round the kitchen when you’re making mince pies.
- Jump up and down in the crunchy leaves in the park.
- Take the dog for a walk somewhere new.
- Go and see some live music and pogo down the front.
- Start your day with a little yoga stretching.
Movement is for everyone, everywhere. It’s joyful. It benefits your mental health, physical health and helps you cope with life. Keep moving, whatever the weather.
Movement with adidas
And these are some of my latest adidas bits of kit I’ve been trying out. This is part of my ongoing collaboration with adidas where they give me the opportunity to try out the brand. All of my adidas pieces are incredibly hard wearing. I put them through their paces three to four times a week in the gym and they’ve all held up really well.
Recently I’ve been wearing these blue jogging trousers from the unisex basketball range (currrently reduced from £70 to £45.50 in the Black Friday sale). As these are unisex, I bought them in the extra small size. I’m hardly a wee pixie but next to a basketball player I probably am extra small. They’re super comfy, great for any kind of movement AND they’ve got zip up pocketeses!
Pocketses I tell you!
To go with them I’ve got these Gazelle Bold shoes in green.
Every time I’ve been in London recently I’ve noticed that tons of people of all ages are wearing Gazelle Bolds. I think it’s the fact that they’re so, so comfortable to wear, plus there are so many different colour combos that go with anything.
They’re not really workout shoes – for that you need to look at the more sporty offerings in the womens running trainers section. So I wouldn’t be wearing them down the gym. But I have worn them to gigs, art galleries, a book launch and for walks round the park. And yes I did take them down the front to the mosh pit so I could pogo that little bit higher.
Where will movement take you today?
