Now this is an interesting one, as it’s the first ever beauty advent calendar developed exclusively by Amazon. I can’t say I would really think of Amazon as a place to buy beauty, so possibly with this they’re drawing attention to the fact that they’re a beauty retailer (as well as books and all the rest).
SPOILER ALERT In this post I’ve got some pics of the contents and a full list of what’s inside the Amazon Beauty Advent Calendar so don’t scroll down if you don’t want to know.
Righto, so this is what it looks like:
It’s an elegant, non-traditional design featuring swirls of Amazon gold. As you can see, only 3 boxes are revealed at a time. Once you pull those out, the next 3 drop down, and so on until Christmas.
This is the full list of contents, which Amazon says are worth over £185:
- Ardell lashes
- Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream 7ml
- Barry M Glitterati Nail Paint
- Baylis & Harding Jasmine & Apple Blossom Hand Gel
- Bioré Ultra pore strips/ Charcoal strips
- Bomb Cosmetics Cherry Bathe-well Blaster
- Bourjois Velvet Lipstick: Shade Flaming Rose
- Bronnley Rollerball
- Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Tarocco Orange 25g
- Dr.Lipp Original Nipple Balm
- Elegant Touch Nail
- Elnett Satin Normal Strength Mini Hairspray 75ml

So as you can see, you get 24 products in the £50 calendar. It’s a mix of full size and deluxe samples, and a good combination of skincare, make up, hair and body products. Nothing’s really standing out at me as a Wow product, and I’m slightly raising my eyebrows at the thought of pore strips and Frizz Ease as a Christmas treat.
The Gatineau Age Benefit Cream is a good inclusion – it normally retails at £97 for 50ml. Here you get 15ml, a value of around £30 and plenty to decide if it’s worth investing in a full size pot.
The Laura Geller New York Balance-n-Brighten is another product I’d love to try out, although bad luck if you don’t suit the included shade of fair. It normally retails at £26 for the full size – from the picture it looks more like a sample size here.
All in all, I think this is the beauty advent calendar to share with your daughter (or your mum), since some of the products are very young, whilst others are clearly destined for more mature skin. It’s a good swoop around the beauty aisles of Amazon and a chance to check out what they have to offer.
Product details:
