Clinique is a beauty brand I used to use a lot of in my twenties, then kind of drifted away from. I rediscovered it last year when I bought the British Beauty Blogger Clinique Beauty Box, which was a romp through the best of the brand. It seems to me that Clinique is a lot more fun these days, and these are days when we all need plenty of fun by the barrel-load.
Last week the delightful team at Clinique in Brighton invited local bloggers in to see what’s new with the brand. I sped in with an enthusiasm to rival Johnny Depp buying wine.
First up, you’ve seen them on Instagram and they’ll shortly be hitting the counters – it’s the Clinique Crayola Chubby Sticks collaboration
Aren’t they just the cutest things? Yet again I think we’re seeing the Korean influence with fun packaging or ‘the skincaretainment factor’ as kbeauty fans would have it. What’s not to love about a giant crayon lipstick to paint your face with?
Some of the Crayola collaboration shades are new, but most are existing shades renamed, so ask at the counter if you have a fave and you want the crayon-style version. They’re £17.50 each for the full size, but the mini collections are much better value. Clinique have a collection of 4 mini Crayola Chubby Sticks online right now for £18. The boxed set of 8 minis you see here retails at £35 and they’re certainly not tiny minis – they’re around half sized, and who ever uses up a full chubby stick anyway?
The big shocker of the night was that Clinique Bonus Time is no longer called Clinique Bonus Time. I know, it’s just Marathon vs Snickers all over again. It’s now Clinique Gift, but the principle is still the same in that when the promotion is active and you buy a couple of items, you get a selection of skincare and make up in travel sizes free with your purchase.
The next Clinique Gift promotion starts very soon in Debenhams. For the gift you get a choice of two lovely bright and cheerful make up bags – which do you prefer, oranges or lemons?
Both contain the same skincare basics – Pep-Start exfoliating cleanser; Pep-Start eye cream; Dramatically Different moisturixing lotion; high impact mascara. Then you get a couple of make up items: a mini eyeshadow and blusher palette and a liquid lip colour.
The palette packaging matches the make up bag, which is really cute. The colours are more neutral in the Orange-themed bag, whilst the Lemons are brighter. Either way, I think the fun factor is definitely here to stay.
