Vegan nail polish | SensatioNail Nailtural Collection

vegan nail polish

When I agreed to try out a new range of natural, vegan nail polish, I certainly wasn’t expecting colours like these to turn up.

Pretty in pink and blue for a change, and straight on my hands as soon as I’d whipped them out of the Jiffy bag. I swear that having a decent nail colour makes me type better.

These are part of the Nailtural Collection from SensatioNail. SensatioNail are well known for their gel polishes, but this new launch is part of their regular, non-gel range.

The Nailtural Collection products consist of of up to 85% bio-sourced ingredients such as potato, corn and wheat. The formula as a whole is 100% cruelty free and suitable for vegans.

There are over 20 colours to choose from, ranging from the palest, most natural shades to popstars like these. Each one is also 10-free, which means it’s free from the 10 commonly used toxic ingredients in nail polish.

I was sent a strong pink called Intuitive Impatiens, and a lovely bright blue called Intriguing Iris. They’re really beautiful, vivid colours that look as good on the nail as they do in the bottle. The blue’s my favourite because it looks like the Tardis in sunshine.

So how does it measure up?

Packaging wise, you’ve got the usual glass bottle with a plastic top, although they’ve styled it up nicely so the top looks like bamboo. The polishes give a very glossy finish and apply smoothly with the medium sized brush included.

Using a base and top coat makes a big difference to the performance of these polishes. Without a base coat, the blue in particular is quite opaque, but on top of a base the colour’s strong enough that you could get away with only one coat.

Without a top coat, I only got just over a day without the colour chipping, but with the addition of a slick of Seche Vite, my manicure has stayed put into three days and counting.
