Hot on the heels of the Quad Active Boosting Essence I showed you a few weeks ago, I had another delivery from Korean beauty site Wishtrend. This time they’re showcasing their new fig skincare range, which has just launched with these three products:
Love that regal purple packaging. But what of the figs?
What can fig do for your skin? Skincare nerds need to know
Figs are pretty action-packed when you look into it. They’re high in polyphenols, omega fatty acids and vitamins (A, B1, and B2). Applied to the skin, this means that figs are
- a great source of antioxidants
- good for preventing water loss and enhancing hydration
- helpful in fading dark spots and improving skin tone
- good at calming down redness
Plus they smell delicious. Personally I love the fragrance of figs, but I’ve only ever seen it in scented candles and perfume before. That and actual figs, I guess. Skincare is a new one on me, though it has been around for a while.
Wishtrend, who’s that?
Wishtrend, if you haven’t come across it before, is a well-established Korean beauty site which ships all over the world. I am a regular customer and affiliate with the site, so I can tell you that it’s a good place to source the best of Korean skincare.
I’m from is the inhouse Wishtrend brand, focusing on innovative products with natural Korean ingredients including rice, honey and now fig.
Cleanse, scrub and refresh
My favourite of this range, in terms of product performance and delicious fig scent is the Cleansing Balm. This is a solid balm which melts into an oil in your hand, then emulsifies into a milky liquid when you wash it off with water.
You only need a little bit so I would expect the 100ml tub to last a long time. It removes make up very effectively leaving the skin soft and not stripped – just that lovely fresh feeling you get after a decent cleanse.
If you prefer to avoid fragrance in your skincare then this is not for you, but personally I enjoyed washing my face with fig.
Next up is the Scrub Mask which weirdly doesn’t smell like fig at all and instead smells exactly like cookie dough. This is a thorough but very gentle exfoliator which, like the cleansing balm, leaves the skin feeling refreshed and clean but not stripped. It exfoliates via a mixture of fig powder and black sugar, but they’re very fine grains so it feels smoother than other physical exfoliants.
Then to round off the routine there’s the Boosting Essence which is scent-free. This is the product with the most anti-ageing benefits. It’s a light, watery essence containing over 60% Fig Extract to give a moisturizing finish. It’s light enough to be used in conjunction with other skincare. Use it like a toner, or soak a dry sheet mask in the essence and use it as a mask.
All in all, it’s a perfect range for summer with benefits for all types of skins. A holiday in the fig groves may not be on the cards for many of us this year, but at least this way our skin gets to go.
