First of all, can we take a moment to admire how DHC have upped their packaging game? If you know this Japanese skincare brand, then you’ve most likely heard of their bestselling Deep Cleansing Oil. Like a lot of their long standing range, its packaging is simple and understated.
But now DHC seem to have broken out all the pretties. Unicorn in the design department maybe? Round of applause for that.
Check out the pale pink ombre and gold detailing on the new eye serum above. Open it up and it gets all kinds of interesting with no less than three tiny rollerballs to apply the serum:
DHC Beauty Lift Eye Care Essence Roll-On is a massaging eye treatment containing oat kernel extract. Active ingredients include mevalonolactone, ceramide 3, and pentapeptide-18 to hydrate and lift.
The multi-rollerball applicator serves to apply the product very thinly – there’s only 6ml in the tube, so you don’t need much. Plus you get the cooling effect of metal on your skin which is great for puffy eyes and delicate skin.
It’s a light essence that disappears into the skin very quickly. I’ve been using this in the morning right before putting on make up and it gives a lovely cooling massage. Just what you need first thing!
The ombre and gold packaging also makes an appearance on DHC’s new gel moisturiser. How lovely is this pot of sunshine?
DHC Astaxanthin Collagen All-in-One Gel aims to tone, hydrate and brighten while fighting free radical damage. It features the antioxidant astaxanthin, a substance derived from green algae and considered 6000 times more powerful than vitamin C. It’s been called one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature, although there is no clear independent proof on this.
The lightweight gel also contains collagen and elastin to firm and hyaluronic acid to help the skin stay moisturised. I couldn’t detect any added fragrance, so I suspect this could be a good one for sensitive skin.
Like the Eye Care Essence, it absorbs very quickly and works well under make up. It’s definitely a day time moisturiser, as you’d probably want something richer for night time. If you are out and about during the day or live somewhere that’s high in air pollutants, then this is a good choice to help your skin fight back.
