Superjellytastic – Memebox Global #18 beauty box review

Over the New Year I had a veritable Meme-avalanche of Korean beauty boxes arriving, so I’m going to share those with you over the next few days.

As you will probably know if you’re a Memebox fan, the company has cut right back on the number of box releases and the fate of these monthly numbered Global boxes is still up in the air. Globals are mixed boxes with no theme but usually a nice range of new products for skin and hair. I hope they do survive the great Memeboxcull because Global #18 was a great one.

Memebox Global #18 contained 6 products – 5 full size and one set of 3 samples. It retailed at $23 plus shipping and contains products worth $143

  1. Purederm Shower Jelly in Brightening Milk (100g, $6)
Taking a shower is pretty boring so I am all for anything that makes it marginally less dull. This wobbly soap has a jelly consistency and comes with a net you can put it in because…well…didn’t you ever put your jelly in a net before? How do you think we entertained ourselves before the birth of the internets?
  2. Dr MJ Bee Tox Control Cream (55ml, $50)
A lovely moisturiser containing bee venom and propolis. Did you ever see that episode of Roald Dahl’s Tales of the Unexpected about the man who got a bit too close to his bees? He probably makes stuff like this now.
  3. echoice Hand Therapy in Cherry Blossom & Shea Butter (60g $2)
I love L’Occitane Cherry Blossom hand cream so maybe this will be a budget dupe for it?
  4. Puresmile Animal Point Pad in Guava (17ml, $1)
I still have a couple of packets of these from Cute Wishlist 1 and whilst they are cute, they are ultimately pretty useless. They’re designed to spot-treat areas of dryness in a manner that will ensure your whole family laughs at you. I’m thinking of sewing all three packs together to make a sheet mask onesie. Laugh that one up, kiddos.
  5. Derma Lift Intensiderm Aqua Rich Cream (3 x 15 ml samples worth $38 in total)
Three little samples of super-rich moisturiser, though it’s actually quite a light cream. Not sure why there’s three samples of exactly the same thing, but if The Three Little Pigs call round and are feeling in need of epidermic hydration, I’m good to go.
  6. Touch By Lee Kyung Min Extreme Shield Master (2.2ml, $46)
I don’t really know what this is, but I like it. It appears to be a tiny vial of mega face juice. Developed by well-respected Korean make-up artist Lee Kyung Min, the clear gel spot-treats sore areas of the skin via a little rubber brushhead. , Memebox gives no clue on the ingredients for this, but does describe it as “magical”. Since Magic is my word for 2015, I’m looking forward to finding out what kind of spell this will cast.

Over all, I really like the mix of products here. From the tiny weird magic brush full of face spells, the silly shower jelly and the bee stuff, there is lots to play with. Mystery beauty boxes should be fun, and this one definitely is.memebox global 18 contents
